“Power, which cannot tolerate a vacuum, has never forgiven the celestial regions for being terrains left open to the imagination. Since the origin of class society the unreal source of separate power has always been placed in the skies. When the state justified itself religiously, heaven was included in the time of religion; now that the state wishes to justify itself scientifically, the sky is in the space of science. From Galileo to Werner von Braun, it is nothing but a question of state ideology: religion wished to preserve its time, therefore no one was allowed to tamper with its space. Faced with the impossibility of prolonging its time, power must make its space boundless.”
“Being is the condition of power; an impassibility that does not look at it, is what attracts it.”
“Power lies in making distinctions.
Freedom lies in destroying them.”

Science has brought us power and ideas but not the wisdom or responsibility to handle them.
— Peter J. Carroll
“Are we seeking power for power’s sake? Or are we seeking to make the world and our nation better places to live? If we seek the latter, violence can never provide the answer. The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. So it goes. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
Martin Luther King Jr.
The actual quote. Be careful, an invalid version has been circulating today.
“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
“Money or Power?”
— jacobh
In this world money begets power behind the wheels of society. It perpetuates the turning of a lot of gears. Power corrupts, especially in positions of authority. It takes a strong character to not abuse such.
Nothing compares to personal power. Dignity is within oneself, no one can take it away from you. It is only when we learn to master our emotions and vices that we truly begin creating the world we desire.
“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”
— Jimi Hendrix
“The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use the words.”
Philip K. Dick (via commondense)
All the more reason to be vigilant in your choice of them.
With power comes responsibility. Don’t manipulate, liberate.
“Where love reigns, there is no will to power; and where the will to power is paramount, love is lacking. The one is but the shadow of the other.”
