“Lusine - Another Tomorrow”
Seattle-based producer Jeff McIlwain (a.k.a. Lusine) is set to release his third full-length record via Ghostly, a 10-track offering called The Waiting Room. McIlwain’s forthcoming record is said to be a gentle fusion of electronic pop and experimental dance music, as fully evidenced by the album’s first leak, “Another Tomorrow.” The latest production from Lusine showcases the brighter tendencies of his record, and features carefully rationed and fuzzy vocals, warm, swelling synths with cinematic dynamics, and ’80s-inspired toms.

Funktion One Visionary Tony Andrews Interview
“The human auditory system can discern information down to 15 to 20 millionths of a second which is 2000 times more refined than the visual sense which only needs 30 frames per second to believe there is a continuum. If you got something slower than 15 millionths of a second the ear can sort that out… Why do you think we have 360 degree perception in audio that never switches off?”
Now this was interesting to watch. I know how personal music can be, so I just wanted to gently remind viewers before any other thoughts to enjoy or ignore the beats at your discretion, it’s not representative of the technology’s caliber. Don’t let an unfavorable opinion of the soundtrack cloud the wisdom here.
Humanity needs more individuals like this man building and moving within our shared perceptual infrastructures. This guy has it right, and he’s earned the right to tell it straight. There is a serious depravity of musical understanding and a general sensitivity lacking in our expanding societies. One should always pay respect to their kindred elements. Context, desire, environment and expression are everything. Don’t just listen to the music, listen to yourself. Once you find a space to really tune in with your inner rhythm every note will take on a new dimension.
As a musician, dancer, and lifelong believer in the power of sound I consider myself blessed to have witnessed many of the world’s most inspiring artists perform with Funktion One. If you come alive in a crowd of hundreds of thousands of individuals moving in harmony to thundering, deep end EDM, it is hard to call this anything other than the Holy Grail. The sound will swallow you whole and dissolve the ego into pure frequency. Few moments surpass becoming the physical incarnation of music. I hope each soul has the opportunity to know this kind of joy. The experience is undeniably spiritual.
