You are trying way too hard to sound smart. It's too much. I can't take it seriously. Stop trying so hard. A lot of your wordage is redundant and over extended. Some of your sentences completely contradict themselves. It looks like a sincere attempt to sound intelligent and educated but it's quite painful to read.

Three things:

a) I write on the fly here quite a bit. It’s kind of impossible to be “trying too hard” when you’re writing a lengthy response in a short amount of time with little to no editing.

b) Because my initial post was a personal musing framed for a larger social context, I was very careful in response to separate myself from that consideration. So yes, I can see why someone who is only skeptically reading half the post would find my words redundant. I make no claims that this is my best writing nor peer-reviewed journal worthy.

c) If my stream of consciousness came out far too wordy for your post-doctorate level of perfection, take my disclaimer or leave it. I’m sorry we all can’t be so refined. I’ll be sure to send over a rough draft next time — if you care to present a name or face to the discussion table, anon.

  • I suppose it would be beating the point to death to illustrate the ironic inability in taking someone seriously when criticism is presented behind the curtain of anonymity.
