Energy Sensation, Expression, and Protection

My question is about interpersonal energy. I have a vague conception of energy ‘flows’ in conversations and that general idea of a person’s ‘energy levels’, but I’d like to learn more about it. What is your perspective on it? Do you perceive ‘fields’ or ‘streams’? Is there a book or practice that has given you insight? Namaste.

I perceive environmental energy as a moving force, field or structure depending on the scope and those around me. Interpersonal energy can rise up within as physical sensation or emotion. If confronted by someone who just had a life-changing or traumatic experience the energy can wash over me like a tidal wave.

I use the term sparingly but one might call me an “empath.” I actually have to be careful of where I am investing my presence over a period of time because I tend to pick up on things too poignantly for comfort. I have found this an invaluable consideration in keeping myself balanced and free of individuals with less than honorable intentions or awareness. It’s generally a good practice to reflect on the manner in which the people around you behave. If it doesn’t line up with your personal virtues or if it leaves you feeling ill at ease, listen to yourself.

There is a wealth of information out there on auras and energy. Currently perusing Robert Bruce’s Practical Psychic Self-Defense Handbook and Energy Work. I don’t quite believe in ghosts or the afterlife as Robert discusses in the former title, but his methods for clearing persisting negative energy are effective and that is all that really matters in the end. I would also highly recommend The Subtle Body by Cyndi Dale; it is a beautifully illustrated encyclopedia of energy systems from around the world and extremely informative.
